16 years old girl presented the health portal Kamaszpanasz.hu
The second annual edition of Health 2.0 Europe conference took place in Berlin, in early November, where the health industry top leading technologies were presented. During the two days event, the latest and greatest health technologies and innovations were shown. The biggest event, where researchers, health experts and other health and IT orientated group members, leaders and stakeholders in web 2.0, from all around the EU could join together and exchange their newest ideas and experience about health and online solutions, connections. The top Hungarian teen health site, Kamaszpanasz.hu was represented by Anna Gyarmati, with her spectacular presentation and speech, remarkable that she was the youngest member of the Health 2.0 congress, only 16 years old. Her presentation was so successful, that she was invited for the next event in San Francisco.
The first Health 2.0 conference was held in 2010, Paris, after that event success, the next station was in Berlin this year, where more than 35 speakers from 15 different countries looked together with the user-generated content on the Internet’s role in health care and its opportunities. The meeting’s participants were known professionals and expert co-workers, active role playing representative members from the health care and online solutions field.
From Hungary, the congress youngest member, Anna Gyarmati, as “teen editor” and blogger unveiled the webpage Kamaszpanasz.hu, as the national top pioneer and class leading site in the health & online communication field. She indicated also that, the future of world of web 2.0 and the online media are in the hands of the youth, young people will provide the content for young people. The young journalist walked around the topic of online searching, online content, and community, namely the next generation of patient communications solutions in her presentation.
Anna is a 10th grade student of University of Debrecen, Kossuth Lajos Grammar School. Since the age of 12, she has been writing and translating a wide variety of articles about medical health, mental, physical, emotional health, environment, fitness and nutrition for the site Kamaszpanasz.hu.
At the conference in Berlin, the very young speaker showed the kamaszpanasz.hu webpage from a teenager girl’s perspective, thus drawing attention to the fact that nowadays young people mostly searching on the internet to find solutions for their troubles, problems and questions, and they blindly trust in the source’s credibility no matter what the answer may be.
Anna showed the webpage’s main functions from the users point of view, example “the expert answers function”, “your story” where teenagers shares their own problems and solutions, personal feelings, tells their stories with each other.
In the presentation Anna talks about hints and tips about teen communications, use of forums and blogs, how can these tools be useful to kids and teens.
And she also talked about the general function of the site, she pinpointed that, the articles written by teens are undergoing across several checkpoint (relevant field experts, doctors supervision), ensuring that the information found in those are valid and easily understandable for the young readers. She highlighted that, it is very important for youngsters, that they should get reliable information with the help of the internet.
The mission of the site Kamaszpanasz.hu is to be trendy, close to teen’s hearts in design, where in collaboration with trusted experts (doctors, psychologist and others) it can share credible information with young people, to help them mature in the process becoming an adult , cope with the hardships, challenges and changes on the way. The site educational goal was that, the teenagers could get information not just from each other, but from experts and other trusted adults in an easy and understandable way, a place where the kids can share and learn formidable knowledge about important questions that affect them. The main topics based on the site experiences are the really hard ones, that teen’s afraid to ask or talk about: sex, self-consciousness, emotional and mental crisis’s, these are the main themes in which teens mostly expect for help.
